XCFC caught up with Xtreme Super Heavy Weight Champion Cisco "The Kid" Valenzuela for a breif interview and this is what he had to say,

XCFC-How old are you?

CISCO-23

XCFC-How long have you been training in MMA?

CISCO-I have been training Mixed Martial Arts for the last two years in which during that time I was playing football for Western New Mexico University

XCFC-What is your base style?

CISCO-Overall I consider myself a stand-up fighter, however when it comes to it, I am a ground and pound fighter as well.

XCFC-How many hours a week do you train?

CISCO- I have a full time job so I dedicate the rest of the evening to my training. I tend to train 10- 14 hours a week, however if I am preparing for a fight I train 15-20 hours.

XCFC-Who do you train with?

CISCO-I train with the only people I trust. William Sanchez and Eric Vega are my coaches. The team consists of very hard working individuals that love the sport with their heart not there pride!

XCFC-Have you always been a resident of Silver City, NM?

CISCO-No I was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. I came to Silver City to attend to school and play football for WNMU.

XCFC-You just graduated from Western New Mexico University? congratulations!

XCFC-What did you major in?

CISCO-I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Chemical Dependency. I will be starting a Masters program in the Fall of 09

XCFC-Do you have plans for yourself?

CISCO-Of course I do! I plan to receive my Masters degree and on to making over $65,000 one day to take care of my family. “Especially my Mom who has done a lot for me” (single mother with three kids). I will continue to fight as long as I can and if it doesn’t work I have my education.

XCFC-If you could have a rematch with anyone who would it be and why?

CISCO-Justin Felix!!! He was my first my fight and loss. I was not able to train much as I wanted to due to playing football at that time and taking 19 hours of school!

XCFC-Who was your toughest opponent?

CISCO-MYSELF! Justin Felix didn’t beat me, I beat MYSELF!

XCFC-What was your mind set going into the Filameno Fackeral fight?
My plan was to go in there and beat him with my speed!

CISCO-Did you do what you wanted in that fight?
Yes sir and it paid off! My coaches trained me to have a positive attitude going into that fight. “You get what you put in!”

XCFC-What would you have done different?

CISCO-Maybe to have let my punching go earlier and faster!

XCFC-What did you expect from him?

CISCO-I expected to just bulrush me and try to overpower me to the ground.

XCFC-How does it feel to be the XCFC Xtreme Super Heavy Weight Champion?

CISCO-It feels great! I have the respect of the agency, the sport, the fans, my friends, my coaches and my team, but especially the community. (Thank you to all of my fans, friends and sponsors)

XCFC-Rumor is your going to drop weight?

CISCO-Yea, my goal is to hit 250 after September!

XCFC-Whats the reasoning for dropping weight?

CISCO-I feel that if the professional level wants to give me a shot, I will have to drop to that level and why not start now.

XCFC-Do you have anybody in mind that you would like to fight and why?

CISCO-I love the sport for what it is and I am open to anyone with enough respect for the sport. If I had to choose one person it would be BROCK LESNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XCFC-Where do you see yourself with your mma career?

CISCO-At this point I am having fun! But if it just happens to be a calling for me then I will follow it, but one thing is for sure. NO MATTER WHERE I GO OR WHAT HAPPENS I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES AND THE PEOPLE HERE AT XCFC. IF I DO MAKE IT BIG MY TEAM AND MY COACHES WILL COME WITH ME. THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR ME FROM THE BEGINNING. ESPECIALLY, MY COACHE’S ERIC VEGA AND WILL SANCHEZ. I WILL LIKE TO GIVE TWO SHOUT OUTS TO MY BROTHERS JASON GILBERT AND VICTOR CARBAJAL FOR ALWAYS GIVING ME THE SUPPORT AND LOVE DURING TRAINING AND FIGHTS.

XCFC-Whats your opinion of the XCFC in comparison to other organizations that you know of?

CISCO-XCFC is a well known organization in the New Mexico and Arizona areas. I wouldn’t be fighting for anyone else to start a career just to try it out. The XCFC does their best to match the fighters as best that they can. THANK YOU SHANE AND TERRY!

XCFC-Thanks for taking the time to do this interview and good luck with your MMA career and your future!
